Club Notes 03-10-2019

The U12’s took on O Donovan Rossa 2 in Leap on Monday 18th in their U12 Cup game. Despite losing the League final on the previous Friday evening, this did not deter the young Kilmacs, as they put in a marvellous display of football to force extra time. Unfortunately on the night it was not to be as our young lads cruelly lost out by a single point to the lads from Skibbereen. This was an excellent game of football, played in a great spirit and showcased how far this young group have come this year. Congratulations to their mentors; John O Donovan, Des Murphy and Ted O Donovan who have put in great work with them all year. The panel on the night included: Dylan Cooke, Sophie O Donovan, Mark McCarthy, Milo Kennsella, Calum Murphy, Jerome McCarthy, Oran O Donovan, Ryan O Donovan, Joe McCarthy, Aodan Murphy, Steven Jennings, Joe O Donovan, Emma Whooley, Gavin Collins, Katie Whelton, Blaithin Murphy.

On Saturday evening last, the Junior C Footballers took on Kilmeen in the semi final of the championship in Leap. On an evening where even the ducks refused to come out, this was a very tight affair, with neither side having the upper hand until the Kilmeen men struck for a goal midway through the first half. Despite a lot of possession, the Kilmacs were struggling to get scores on the board with the half time score reading Kilmacabea 0-2 Kilmeen 1-3. With the conditions deteriorating in the second half, this turned the game into an arm wrestle and it was the Kilmacs who despite being five points down manged to get an all important goal and then the equalising score deep into injury time to force extra time. With the light fading fast, it was Kilmeen who seemed to have the game won with two early scores but again credit to the Kilmacs who again managed to kick two late scores to tie the game and force a replay. Full time score, Kilmacabea 1-7  Kilmeen 1-7.
