Junior 3 Football
The Junior 3 Footballers once again took part in the Lena Downs Invitational Football Tournament as part of the Belle of Ballincollig festival on Saturday last 9th June 2018. Having finished as runners up for the past two years (losing twice to the host club Ballincollig), the team was in confident mood in going one better this year. Taking on teams from Inchigeelagh, Aghada, Kilmurry and Ballincollig, the team managed to win two and lose two of their round robin games, which meant they faced a free taking competition against the hosts Ballincollig for a place in the final. Assured free taking from Kevin Whooley, Eamon O Sullivan and Karl McCarthy saw the Kilmacs advance to the final to face Kilmurry.
Despite putting in a tremendous effort, it was deja vu once again for the Kilmacs with Kilmurry running out winners by 0-6 to 0-2. Despite the results it was once again an enjoyable day out for all the team, with everyone getting valuable game time and more importantly having a great day’s football.
Thanks to Aidan Glavin, Kevin McCarthy and Matthew O Neill who helped out the lads on the day.
Squad that took part in the Tournament were: Niall Bowkett, Seamus Murphy, Oisin O Sullivan, Eamon O Sullivan, Dara Tobin, Karl McCarthy, Niall McCarthy, Kevin O Donovan, Peadar O Leary, Noel Crowley, Noel McCarthy, Jack Connolly, Diarmuid O Donovan, Conor O Callaghan, Kevin Whooley, Liam Thompson, Padraig McCarthy, Eoin O Sullivan, Denny Hayes
