Club Notes 17-10-2019
The U12’s recently finished up their year, when they travelled to Castletownbere to play the Shield final. Playing some excellent football and showing all the hardwork that they have done during the year, put in a fantastic performance. Unfortunately on the day, the home side were finding it easier to hit the back of the net and ran out winners on the night. Despite the disappointing result, it has been a great year for this age group and they have made tremendous progress this season.
Congratulations to their mentors; John O Donovan, Des Murphy and Ted O Donovan who have put in great work with them all year. The panel throughout the year included: Dylan Cooke, Sophie O Donovan, Mark McCarthy, Milo Kennsella, Calum Murphy, Jerome McCarthy, Oran O Donovan, Ryan O Donovan, Joe McCarthy, Aodan Murphy, Steven Jennings, Joe O Donovan, Emma Whooley, Gavin Collins, Katie Whelton, Blaithin Murphy.
Their were two games played this past weekend, both semi finals. Firstly the U16’s travelled to Ahiohill to take on Clann Na Gael in the semi final of the championship. This was an excellent game of football and saw the Kilmacs trail by 0-5 to 0-8 at half time, despite Clann being reduced to fourteen men. The team put in a massive effort to try and overhaul the lads from Drimoleague but just couldn’t find the crucial goal that they need, eventually falling to an 0-11 to 1-14 defeat.
Meanwhile at the same time in Rossmore, the Junior C Footballers took on Kilmeen in the replay of their championship semi- final. Played in totally contrasting conditions to the original game, it was the Kilmacs who took the initiative from the start and after a great 1st half led by 2-7 to 0-2. The 2nd half continue in the same manner and the Kilmacs added an additional four points and ran out very comfortable winners by 2-11 to 0-5.
That result for the Junior C’s has seen them qualify for the Championship final against Clonakilty. The date, time and venue for this fixture will be confirmed in the near future.
