Minors victory sets up West Cork Final appearance

The Minor Footballers have reached the Rebel Og West Divison 4 Football Championhip Final after a comprehensive victory over Dunmanus Rovers in their semi final last Sunday evening. On a well appointed Skibbereen venue, it was our lads who settled into the game quicker and the tone of the game was set from the 5th minute on. Some lovely flowing football saw the green flag waved twice in the opening ten minutes for the Kilmacs as they opened up a seven point lead. This was further extended with a third goal and this pattern continued throughout the opening half with the Kilmacs well on top at half time leading by 4-3 to 1-2.

The second half begun in the same fashion with the Kilmacs plundering a fifth goal immediately and this seemed to galvanise the men from the Mizen peninsula. From the 33rd to the 41st minute the men from Dunmanus scored five unanswered points and the crowd watching on were wondering was this the start of a revival. But the revival wasnt sooner started that it was finished with the Kilmacs closing the game out stronger kicking three further white flags, to leave the final score Kilmacabea 5-6 Dunmanus Rovers 1-9.

The panel for the game was: Conor Burns, Eoghan Burns, Adrian Gore, Keith Whelton,Peter Hayes, Cian Minihane, Odhran Kerrisk, John Keating, Christy Wilson, Billy Murphy, Owen Tobin, Kevin McCarthy, Liam McCarthy, Eoghan O Donovan, Paudie Gore, Jamie Ronan, Shane O Sullivan, Denis White and James Hodnett

This was a great win for this group and it means they will now face Beal Atha Ghaorthaidh (Ballingeary) in the final. This game has yet to be fixed, so keep an eye on club social media for news on this game.

The club would like to wish Cian Minihane a speedy recovery from a facial injury picked up during the game and also to Cillian Sheehan who broke a bone in his thumb last week, while playing for the U16’s.
