Club Notes 06-12-2019
The AGM of Kilmacabea GAA Club took place on Sunday 24th November at 2:30pm in The Clubhouse. Chairman Dan Hourihane welcomed everyone to the meeting and thanked everyone for the hard work put in throughout the year. He noted that the Junior A’s championship exit was disappointing but that the nucleus of a good squad is still there and that the group will want to make up for a disappointing end to the 2019 season. He went on to congratulate the Junior C’s on their marvellous championship victory and that alot of those involved with that team could make a difference to the A’s team next year.Dan also acknowledged the tremendous pride and pleasure to see two club layers involved with the Cork U20 squad that won the All Ireland title in July. He added that both Damien Gore and Ian Jennings were fantastic role models for all players in the club and Dan also acknowledged the growing number of underage players involved with Rebel Og development squads. Again he thanked his hardworking fellow officers for all their hard work over the year.
Outgoing secretary Derry O Callaghan, gave a detailed breakdown of the year’s activities both on and off the field. Derry is stepping down as secretary after 27 years as a club officer and everyone within the club would like to thank Derry for all the tireless work he has put in over the past 3 decades. Treasurer Jennifer Sweetnam again gave a fantastic run down of the club’s financial position and once again urged everyone to help out and give a hand fundraising next year. Underage Secretary Michael Tobin once again gave a comprehensive run down of the club’s underage activity for the year. He stressed that despite the small numbers at all grades, that every group put in a huge effort and were unfortunate not to win any silverware during the year.
Narelle Jennings will be replacing Derry as club secretary, and we wish her well in her new role.
