Club Notes 30-1-2020
The U21’s have got the new year’s action underway, when they played out an entertaining draw with Randal Og in a challenge game in Leap last Sunday afternoon. With the U21 championships starting earlier this year, the U21’s begin their campaign against Owen Gaels (amalgamation of Ballinascarthy and St Oliver Plunketts) and that game is fixed for next Sunday 2nd February at 3pm in Rosscarbery. Again, we would ask our great supporters to come out and get behind the lads as they start their championship campaign.
Saturday was a very proud and busy day for our two Intercounty footballers. Firstly Ian Jennings was a part of the Cork U20 panel that defeated Kildare in the John Kerins Tournament Final played in Callan, Co Kilkenny. The final score was Cork 2-14 Kildare 1-11. Everyone associated with the club would like to congratulate Ian and his teammates on this great victory and wish them the best of luck for the year ahead.
Then on Saturday evening, Damien Gore started at corner forward, as the Cork Senior Footballers defeated Offaly by 0-20 to 0-13, to begin life in the Allianz National Football League Division 3 with a victory. All his clubmates and supporters are extremely proud of his achievements so far and for the future also.
All associated with the club would like to pass on their congratulations to the Hourihane family, especially Conor on his award as the West Cork Sports Star of the Year for 2019. Conor’s uncle Dan has been heavily involved with the club over many years and is the club’s current chairman.
