Club Notes 06-08-2020
The Junior A Footballers negotiated the 1st round of the Junior A Football Championship with ease, as they overcame the challenge of Bandon’s second team by 6-23 to 0-4. This game was played in Ahiohill on Sunday 26th July at 7pm. In truth there will be tougher tests ahead, and the team and management will be back putting in the hard work between now and the next round. Well done to Kevin and his management team for getting the team ready for the 1st round and we wish them the best of luck in the next round.
Two further games were played last week. The u12’s were next out in league action on Monday 27th when they travelled to Ardfield to take on the home side. This was a fantastic game of football and a huge credit has to go to both sides on the high quality of football played. The game finished in a high scoring draw, 5-12 apiece and well done to both sides on great entertainment.
Attention then turned to the Minor footballers who took on Kilmeen in the Minor Football Championship on Wednesday 29th. With the current restrictions this game was played in Leap and despite starting well, the team had to give way to a more stronger Kilmeen outfit on the evening.
With the current COVID-19 restrictions the Annual Kilmacabea GAA Community Festival did not take place this year and this will sadly hit the club finances hard with the loss of much needed funds. Despite the cancellation of the Festival, there was much needed funds received over the past weekend. Declan O Sullivan of O Sullivan Tree Care and Landscaping Services donated sponsorship and a set of jerseys to the club last Friday night. Declan is also a member of the Junior A Football panel and the whole club thanks Declan for this kind gesture at this tough time financially for the club.
Fixtures for the coming week: Junior Football League Division 2 v Goleen on Friday 7th at 7:30pm
