Damien Gore and the Cork U20’s

Damien was named at corner forward for the Cork U20’s Munster Final clash with Kerry played in Austin Stack Park, Tralee on Friday 29th June 2018. Cork started the game well and Damien was getting involved in all of Cork’s good forward play. Although he was well marshaled by the Kerry defence, Damien managed to fire over a superb point and both teams ended the half level, Cork 0-9 Kerry 1-6.

Both sides were evenly matched until Kerry made a number of subs that changed the course of the game. While trying very hard, Damien was increasing frustrated by the lack of service into him and eventually the selectors withdrew the  Glandore man with 12 mins remaining. Kerry maintained their advantage for the last 10 mins and ran out comfortable winners by 3-11 to 0-14.

Despite the disappointing defeat, Damien can be happy with his performances in the Munster Championship. His hard work and skill was clear to all those that watched him against Tipperary, Clare and Kerry. The experience that he has gained from playing with his Cork team mates should stand to him as he now looks forward to helping the Kilmacs in our bid to retain the Mick McCarthy Cup.

Everyone associated with the club is very proud by the way he represented his family and club over the past number of months.
