Kilmacabea GAA Notes 25-10-2018
History was made last Saturday evening in Bandon, as our Junior A Footballers qualified for the County Junior A Football Championship Final for the first time in the club’s 130 year existence. A full report on our historic victory over Delanys is available elsewhere in this section.
As the team and management left the field, the huge Kilmacabea support gathered and huge cheers and a very loud round of applause acclaimed their heroes. As young and old left Charlie Hurley Park their thoughts could turn to next Saturday night, where for the first time a Kilmacabea Junior Football team will take to the hallowed turf of Pairc Ui Rinn in a County Final. Many men have tried and failed to guide a Kilmacabea team to a County Final, but on Saturday night Noel “Dolly” McCarthy will join Tom Walshe as the only other manager of a County Final team. The link to that great day in November 1994 is strong this year, as both James O Donovan and Noel Crowley are selectors on the present day team and were stalwarts who helped capture that Junior B County Title.
For anyone that is unable to travel to the game on Saturday, C103 will provide full match coverage on their Saturday Sports Special from 6pm.
So,little more can be said, only for the entire club to wish Noel and Niall and the whole team, the very best of luck and remember that the whole parish is behind you. Kilmacs Abu
