Club Notes 1-11-2018

Heartbreak was the outcome last Saturday night, as our brave Junior Footballers were denied at the final hurdle by a single point in the County Final by Dromtarriffe. More in the match report elsewhere in this section.

Despite the obvious disappointment, no one can say that this Kilmacabea team didn’t give it their all in trying to capture the club’s first Junior A County title. As Al Pacino once said, “The game is about inches” and so it proved on Saturday evening. Everyone associated with the club would like to thank Niall Hayes and all his teammates for the tremendous entertainment and joy that they brought to the parish throughout the year. Regaining our West Cork title was a huge moment and bought great celebrations to Leap once again. The county campaign couldn’t have gone any better, as these great Kilmacabea ambassadors shone the light brightly all the way to last Saturday night in Pairc Ui Rinn.

Defeat is a bitter pill to swallow, but we all know that Noel “Dolly” McCarthy and his management team will learn the lessons from last weekend and this team will return in 2019 and better and stronger outfit. Once again the parish showed the great faith they have in this team, by the large Kilmac crowd that was present on the night. Thanks also to the club sponsors and anyone that contributed towards the team fund ahead of the final.

Finally the old saying “That night is darkness just before the dawn” might be true now, but this Kilmacabea Junior team will come back a stronger outfit for 2019. Kilmacs Abu!!!!
