Club Notes 18-07-2019
Last Thursday evening the Junior C Footballers travelled to Clonakilty for the Division 3 league final. Having made the step up from Division 4 this season, the team adapted to the higher league very well and finished the regular season with seven wins out of seven. This record was going to be severely tested by the men from Kilbrittain, who were narrowly beaten by our first team in the 2017 West Cork Junior A Championship final. The game started in with a frenetic pace, and it was the Kilbrittain men who took the game by the scruff of the neck and lead our Kilmacs lads by 0-6 to 3-2. The goal that our lads badly needed just wouldn’t come and the concession of a fourth goal realistically ended the lads comeback. They fought to the end and just had to give way to a better balanced and hungrier team on the night. Full time score: Division 3 league final: Kilmacabea 0-10 Kilbrittain 4-7.
It was back to Ahamilla on Friday evening as Damien Gore was selected at corner forward for the Cork U20 footballers as they took on Waterford in the semi final of the Munster Championship. This turned out to a much too easy game for the young Cork lads, as they ran our easy winners by 5-24 to 0-6. On the plus side, Damien got some much needed game time, having spent the early part of the year as part of the County Senior football panel, and scored 1-3.
This game will benefit Damien as he and his teammates now face into a Munster Final against Kerry. This is fixed for Thursday 18th at 7:30pm in Pairc Ui Rinn and anyone that is interested in going to the game is asked to contact Jennifer Sweetnam as soon as possible, because if interest is high enough the club will organise a bus to the game.
