Club Notes 05-03-2020

Last Sunday saw both club and county action. In Pairc Ui Chaoimh, Damien Gore lined out at corner forward for the County Senior Footballers against Derry in their latest National Football League Division 3 game. Damien put in an excellent performance, ending the day with 1-3 to his name and this helped Cork to a 3-13 to 3-11 victory. A point from their remaining two games will see them promoted back to Division 2 for next season.

On the local scene, the Junior A Footballers took on Tadgh MacCarthaigh in the second round of the league. This game was moved to Aughaville as the pitch in Leap was unplayable, and despite missing so many players on the day, the team had to give way to a better balanced Caheragh outfit, full time score Kilmacabea 2-6 Tadgh MacCarthaigh 0-13.

Anyone interested in doing a beginner’s Defibrillator course can contact Jennifer Sweetnam. This course is a necessity for all mentors and coaches that haven’t already done a course.

A reminder that bookings are being taken for anyone that wishes to do a Foundation Coaching Course. Anyone interested is asked to contact Club secretary Narelle Jennings as soon as possible. Again this course is a necessity for all club coaches and trainers.

The U21’s are due to resume Championship action this coming weekend, when they take on Ahan Gaels in the backdoor of the U21 B Championship. This game has been postponed recently due to the bad weather, but has been fixed for Saturday 7th at 4pm in Ahiohill. As this is a winner takes all game, we would encourage as many of our loyal fans to make the journey and help the lads to get their campaign back up and running.

Best of luck to Ian Jennings and the Cork U20 Footballers in the Munster Final v Kerry on Wednesday evening in Tralee.

Fixtures for the coming week: U21 B Football Championship 2nd Round v Ahan Gaels on Saturday 7th at 4pm in Ahiohill.
