Club Notes 16-06-2022

Well done to Damien Gore and the Cork Senior Footballers on their 2-18 to 1-16 victory over Limerick in the All-Ireland Qualifiers in Pairc Ui Chaoimh last Sunday. Damien came off the bench and kicked the final point for Cork. They now face Dublin in the All-Ireland Quarter Final and this is fixed for Saturday 25th at 6pm in Croke Park.

On Sunday evening last our U14’s made the trip to Ahiohill to take on Ibane Gaels in the Championship final. Having defeated Caha Og in a thrilling semi- final last Thursday night by 7-9 to 3-7, they travelled to Ahiohill in high spirits for the final. A good battling first half saw the team only trail by 2 points at half time, but a stronger Ibane outifit rattled in a number of second half goals and ran out winners in the end. It was a tough night for our young lads, but they gained valuable experience and will be back stronger next year.

On Sunday next the 19th at 2pm, there will be a plaque unveiled in Glandore to Sean Hayes, the first TD for West Cork in 1919. Sean was born in Cregg and he still has lots of relatives in the local area.

The Junior A Footballers travelled to Clonakilty last Thursday evening in the latest round of the league and lost out to a youthful Clonakilty side by 1-7 to 2-8.
