Club Notes: 22-09-2022

Our U12 girls took on Kilshannig in the final game of the County Series played in Leap last Sunday. Having took a heavy defeat against Grenagh in their last game, our girls put in their best display of the year and were unlucky not to win the game on the day. The game finished in a draw, Kilmacabea 1-7 Kilshannig 2-4 and this result meant our girls missed out on the knockout stages on scoring difference. Despite the disappointment, this year has been an incredible year in the first year of the club’s existence and the West Cork final victory over Courcey Rovers and the celebrations that followed will live long in the memory. Well done to all the girls and the management team that put in a huge effort and brought this team on in leaps and bounds over the course of the year.

The u15 Footballers travelled to Rosscarbery to take on St James in the semi final of the championship and despite putting in a good effort it was the men from Ardfield/Rathbarry that won on the night. Final score: Kilmacabea 0-6  St James 3-6.

Ruairi Hourihane was introduced as a second half sub but was unable to help the Carbery Senior Footballers as they were defeated 1-15 to 4-11 against Ballincollig in the Quarter Final of the Premier Senior Football Championship played in Pairc Ui Chaoimh last Sunday evening.

The Junior C Football Championship draw was made recently and we were drawn against near neighbours Carbery Rangers and Castlehaven. Our first game in this group will see us take on Carbery Rangers in Leap and this game is due to be played on the weekend of October 1st/2nd.
